I started with a machine at 16 and honestly sewing came pretty naturally once i had the basics of the machine’s functions down. I then would just inspect clothing at malls on people etc to see how it was put together and i could replicate it pretty easily without a pattern from memory, I was never taught to work with a pattern or really by anyone until a small formal training lesson a few months back, i made my own method to work with took a lotta trial and error that way but i picked up some pretty unique tricks from it.
